FPL GW 31 Captain Picks – Who from Manchester City should you pick?
By Vibudh Dixit
#1 Raheem Sterling – Manchester City vs Leeds United
I talked earlier about how disappointing Mané has been this season but Sterling hasn’t been a lot better as an FPL asset either.
Most who have tried to back Sterling this season have been brutally punished more often than not, making him feel like a nostalgia pick at this point.
To make it worse, he seems to have lost Pep’s faith at the moment and is not starting games that he used to, big ties against some of the top opposition.
He came off the bench to grab an assist in a 2-0 win over Leicester City at the weekend but was an unused substitute in Man City’s Champions League win over Dortmund.

With most of the top FPL assets starting midweek, it has given Sterling a much better chance of starting versus Leeds United and it would be very surprising if he didn’t.
His pace could do serious damage to Leeds’ backline. Sterling hasn’t had too many hauls this season and probably won’t get a better chance to do so than this week.
I personally would never have considered Sterling for a second if I knew there was a good chance of someone like Kevin De Bruyne starting this week, it just seems too hard to call that though.
It is hard to call anything with Pep and just because Sterling didn’t start midweek doesn’t guarantee a start vs Leeds but you would surely expect him to.
This could be a good one-week punt for someone who is on a Wildcard this week or for someone who somehow still owns Sterling.
Otherwise, I don’t think it’s worth spending a precious transfer to bring him in despite the upside.
