Julian Brandt: Michael Zorc responds to rumors linking forward to Arsenal
By Varun Aithal
After a poor start to the Premier League campaign, Arsenal are looking to bring in some fresh legs and have set their sights on Julian Brandt.
After a difficult start to the season, Mikel Arteta and his Arsenal side have been able to put the bad memories behind them with wins against Chelsea and Brighton in back-to-back fixtures.
The side has responded to the critics in emphatic fashion and have moved up in the Premier League table. With the transfer window opening in January, Arsenal are looking to add some players to their side and are making space for them by selling or loaning out all their fringe players.
The Gunners have already shipped out Sead Kolasinac on loan to his old club, Schalke 04. Others who could follow are William Saliba, Sokratis, Reiss Nelson, and more.
A player rumored to be a top target and could be heading in the opposite direction is Borussia Dortmund’s, Julian Brandt. The 24-year-old winger has failed to take-off in the ongoing edition of the Bundesliga registering only one assist in 586 minutes of football.
Last season the player finished with 19 G/A across all competitions for Dortmund but less game time has certainly hit his confidence a bit. A move out on loan could revive his current campaign.
Talking to the recent Arsenal’s interest in Julian Brandt, Borussia Dortmund’s Head of Sport, Michael Zorc told:
"I read that too, I can’t say more about it. there is nothing on the table – and not even in the fax machine."

It is a well-known fact that BVB doesn’t like to lose their top quality in the winter transfer window. However, the pandemic has changed the situation in recent times as the clubs are compelled to sell players in order to survive.
Nevertheless, Borussia Dortmund are a different club when it comes to transfers. They are one of those clubs that plays hardball over transfers until their demands are met. Jadon Sancho to Manchester United is a prime example of their transfer stubbornness.
Mikel Arteta has a huge task this season after a questionable start. Academy graduates Emile-Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka have tried to thwart away the relegation battle for a while with a set of impressive performances.
The addition of Julian Brandt will provide the much-required firepower up front for the Gunners. The question that still remains is, will Borussia Dortmund sell Brandt in January? If yes, for what price?
