After a poor start to the league, Arsenal are looking to sell the deadwood at the club. After Sead Kolasinac, Sokratis Papastathopoulos will follow next.
According to recent reports in the transfer mill, Arsenal are preparing themselves for their second departure of the transfer window.
Following Sead Kolasinac’s FC Shalke loan move, Sokratis Papastathopoulos is in talks with Turkish club Fenerbahce over a potential move in January.
The Turkish journalist, Ekrem Konur, tweeted regarding the player’s thoughts on joining the Turkish outfit for more game time.
The tweet read:
"Arsenal is willing to release Sokratis for free. Apart from Fenerbahçe, there are offers from the UK and Greece. The player’s manager is trying to handle the procedures with Arsenal."

Fenerbahce are not the only club willing to sign the Gunners’ defender. He has attracted interest from clubs in his homeland Greece too.
On the other hand, Arsenal are looking to terminate the contract of the 32-year-old in order to make space for new signings.
The Greek defender joined the English Premier League outfit in the summer transfer window of 2018/19 in a deal worth €20 million from Borussia Dortmund.
In his two seasons in London, Sokratis featured 69 times for Arsenal across all competitions and has 8 G/A to his name.
In the ongoing edition, the player hasn’t featured once for Mikel Arteta’s side despite the club enduring difficult times.
Previously, the player was in talks with Napoli and lucrative offers were waiting in the offing from Saudi Arabia and Qatari clubs. However, none of those deals materialized in the summer transfer window.
The arrival of Gabriel and William Saliba has drawn the curtains on Sokratis’ future at the Emirates. In order to get more game time, the central defender has opted to move away from the club.
The club is also said to be listening to offers for Shkodran Mustafi and Callum Chambers. The North Londoners are ready to sell the aforementioned players if the right offer comes in January.
