Manchester United: Jadon Sancho transfer to be completed ‘this week’

The saga is approaching the business end with the Red Devils “in advanced talks” with Dortmund for Jadon Sancho.

Numerous stories linking Jadon Sancho with a move to Old Trafford could be about to cease with the dialogues between the involved parties reaching closer to an agreement. Going by recent developments, the English winger’s move to Manchester United looks a matter of when and not if.

Having initiated dialogues with Borussia Dortmund last week, Ed Woodward, United’s executive vice-chairman, has proposed multiple financial structures to his German counterparts, with talks progressing in a positive direction.

Previously, the Red Devils offered an upfront €60million with various performance-related add-ons and bonuses, equating the transfer fee with Dortmund’s valuation of €120m. Despite being close, Man United fell a bit short as Der BVB demanded a higher initial value.

Amid negotiations, there has been a wide acceptance of this transfer getting over the finishing line with Borussia Dortmund lining up a replacement for the imminent departure of Jadon Sancho, with Jonathan Ikone, Memphis Depay, and Milot Rashica being linked with a move to North Rhine-Westphalia.

Jadon Sancho is confident of being a Manchester United player “by the end of the week”, as negotiations about the Borussia Dortmund forward have accelerated in the last 24 hours.

Citing Dortmund’s deadline of August 10 to complete this transfer and sign reinforce ahead of next season, Man United have presented a prospective €120million package – including initial €70m, with respective payments of €30m and €20m in the upcoming summers.

Regarding personal terms, Jadon Sancho is expected to sign a five-year contract with clauses understood to be agreed between Man United and the English winger’s entourage. The Red Devils’ Champions League qualification has proved to be additional leverage during negotiations. Also, the 20-year-old has been keen for a move back to his homeland this summer.

The German chiefs are eager to accept this bid, however, there are a few tweaks needed before reaching a complete agreement. At the moment, the dialogues are at an advanced stage and a deal is expected to be struck in this week, as understood by all parties involved.

It is understood the German club could accept a deal that would involve United paying the fee in instalments over the next two or three seasons for England forward, with a further €20m potentially due in performance-related add-ons. (The Guardian)

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who has targeted Jadon Sancho since his permanent appointment as Manchester United manager, could finally attain his prime target for this summer. But, there are a few more crucial pieces of business to be done at Old Trafford, with Jack Grealish learnt to be Man United’s next priority.

Meanwhile, the United squad has reported back for Europa League duties after a short break following a hectic Premier League schedule.
