The favorite right now is possibly the most wanted man in all of football. Jurgen Klopp has been breaking the hearts of Premier League clubs for many years now. The German has chosen Loyalty over Money in remaining with Borussia Dortmund.

Thanks to a tumultuous season in the Bundesliga, Klopp announced mid-season that he would not return to the German club. Since that announcement, almost every top Premier League club has been linked with Klopp in one form or another.

While mid-table Premier League clubs have also been reportedly interested in the German, it is widely expected that Klopp will only join a Champions League contending club. Though Liverpool will not play in the Champions League next season, they do contend for the top four almost every year.

Should Liverpool make the decision to either sack or force out Brendan Rodgers from the club, Jurgen Klopp will be widely assumed as the next man in charge at Anfield.

What makes the move so interesting is Klopp’s ability to turn mid-table clubs into Champion level sides. Prior to Klopp’s arrival at Dortmund, the German club had not finished better than seventh in four consecutive seasons.

Following the arrival of Jurgen Klopp, Borussia Dortmund would spend two seasons competing at the top of the table before winning back-to-back Bundesliga titles. The club would then follow those titles up with back-to-back second place finishes.

About the same size as Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund represents the Red’s perfect counterpart. Acheiving the same results in the Premier League would allow Jurgen Klopp to return Liverpool to their former greatness.

Liverpool’s last first division title came back in 1989-1990 before the creation of the Premier League. Since then, the closest Liverpool has come to the title was last season, losing the title by two points to Manchester City.

Even worse is Liverpool led the Premier League with three matches to go. The side would fail to win two of their last three matches, seeing the side fall from first to second in the table.

While fan view on Rodgers has been split, the decision will be up to the club. While Rodgers has proven his level of skill in the Premier League, Klopp is an unkown. Managing in the Bundesliga is quite an accomplishment, but it is not like managing in the Premier League.

The Game for Liverpool is a high stakes one. No matter what decision they make, the club will be criticized for it. Their only hope will be the manager they choose managing the club back to the top of English Soccer and winning their first Premier League title.
