In Unconfirmed Reports out of England, Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom has decided to take up an interest in football. Her new found love of the world’s game has led to her naming herself as manager of the England National Team.

Though England currently leads its European Championship qualifying group, yesterday’s draw against Italy is believed to have been Roy Hodgson final match in charge of the England national team.

Following the resignation of Fabio Capello as manager, Roy Hodgson was appointed manager less than a month prior to England’s first match at the 2012 European Championships. Though Hodgson led the side to a top of the group finish, England were knocked out of the competition by Italy in the quarterfinals.

Great form from England led to the side taking the top spot during their World Cup qualifying campaign. However, the Three Lions just defeated Ukraine by a single point.

With the pressure from the English media growing as the 2014 World Cup approached, the form of the Three Lions would begin to suffer. Losing to both Uruguay and Italy, England would crash out of the World Cup in the group stage.

It is believed that the Queen’s faith in her beloved national team began to fade with the horrendous form displayed in Brazil. Though the side has gone undefeated since the end of the World Cup, the Queen has now taken it upon herself to return England to greatness.

At 88 years of age, Elizabeth II easily stands as the oldest national team manager in the entirety of the World. With her advanced age, one has to wonder how her majesty will manage a squad of such youth. How will she handle training? Does she even know how the game is played?

Many questions will have to be answered. With an official announcement from Buckingham Palace expected later today, many of the world’s top managers have expressed a mixture of shock and dismay at the move out of England.

United States manager Jurgen Klinsmann appears to be one of the few overjoyed with the expected news.

"“With the Queen in charge, maybe we can finally beat England in soccer” #WeGotaChance #IBelieve – @J_Klinsmann"

Many cannot argue with Klinsmann’s comments. After all, what managerial qualifications does the Queen posses? Besides Premier League side Queens Park Rangers possessing the title of Queen.

However, thanks to her title as Queen of England, Her majesty Elizabeth II is entitled to do whatever she pleases. Who knows, maybe the side can have training sessions at Buckingham Palace while also enjoying the many amenities normally given to the royal family.

One thing is for certain however, this is the one day a year where I can say that none of this is real. Happy April Fools Day everyone. Hope you had a good laugh and enjoy your day.
