3 players who could breakout in the 2021/22 Premier League season
By A. Aden
Liverpool – Curtis Jones
Another homegrown midfielder on the list and this one kind of feels like a cheat to mention.
That’s because Curtis Jones, nearing the 50 appearance mark for Liverpool, has already established himself as a strong figure in Jürgen Klopp’s midfield options.

A young player who was once regarded as solely good enough for FA Cup and Community Shield matches in order to build up experience and never a key piece in midfield depth, has now displayed high-quality showings in both the Premier League and the UCL (Leipzig in the R16 comes to mind).
He holds an xGChain90 (total xG of every possession the player is involved in per 90) of 0.60, which keeps him in the upper quadrant of Liverpool players despite playing just north of 1000 minutes in total in comparison to near 3000 others.
Even with Gini Wijnaldum having left the club, Klopp will have some peace of mind knowing a capable replacement in Jones is blooded and ready to step in whenever.
Honourable mentions in the breakout series
Rayan Aït Nouri
