Aston Villa – Jacob Ramsey

The native Birmingham lad coming through the ranks at Aston Villa. Jacob Ramsey has been somewhat of a regular face in and around the Villa camp as he was a key figure in the U23 side for a short while.

Although, his inclusion in a string of Villa games has proved to be a choice Dean Smith is yet to regret.

In 593 minutes in the Premier League, Ramsey averaged 1.67 shots per 90 and his xGBuildup (total xG of every possession the player is involved in without key passes and shots) was a respectable 1.69.

With such a limited number of minutes, it holds him in the upper end of the middle of the pack, so to speak (per Understat.com). These numbers come with 16 of his 22 appearances coming off the bench and 6 starts in total.

A promising sign for Villa is that the youngster’s body is yet to fill out but as he stands, his ability to comfortably play as a midfielder alongside the likes of McGinn, Nakamba, Douglas Luiz and now Morgan Sanson, has shown that he belongs.

Whilst just turning 20 at the end of May, the sky is the limit for him at Villa Park.
