Sergio Ramos leaves Real Madrid: Premier League bound?
Real Madrid announced that long-serving defender, Sergio Ramos would leave the Santiago Bernabeu upon the expiry of his contract.
Ramos has played for Los Blancos since 2005, when he joined from fellow La Liga side Sevilla, making over 600 appearances, scoring 101 goals and amassing 22 trophies.
The 35-year-old has become a stalwart in the Real defence over the past 16 years, becoming the captain of the side in 2015 after goalkeeper Iker Casillas departed for Porto.
The 6 ft tall centre-back is known for his aggressive play and quality when it comes to getting goals over at the other end of the pitch.
Ramos’s goalscoring ability has made him a huge asset in the box and often makes up for his wayward tackling, having worked up 26 red cards in his time as a centre-back and right-back.

With Ramos’s departure being predicted for a while, Premier League club’s have been linked with the player, Manchester United and Manchester City currently sitting at the front of the queue.
A lot of United fans see Ramos as the answer to their defensive issues and a real partner to Harry Maguire, whereas City fans believe Ramos could be the leader to really take their team to the top of Europe.
Wherever the Spain International goes he will no doubt add a huge amount of experience to the defence and strengthen them massively. If he does choose to come to England, it’s possible he could have a real impact on next season’s title and help them in Europe, with four UEFA Champions Leagues to his name.
Ramos is still regarded as one of the best defenders in the world, even at 35, and will no doubt be sought after by many of Europe’s top clubs, landing in the Premier League is a real possibility.
