Manchester City have done some brilliant business as we reach the end of the 2020/21 Premier League season. Before the summer transfer window, Manchester City have acquired the services of Dario Ariel Sarmiento from the Argentine outfit, Estudiantes. The reported $18 million deal includes the bonuses and a sell-on clause as well.

The Etihad-based outfit has closed the deal for $6 million with performance-related bonuses equalling $12 million. The young winger had been scouted by Manchester City for a long time before wrapping up the deal according to Fabrizio Romano.

When will Dario Ariel Sarmiento join City? Will he start playing for the club right away?

On Friday, the renowned transfer journalist announced that the deal has been closed by the Manchester outfit. Fabrizio Romano tweeted that the player is set to join City Group in June 2021 once the ongoing season ends. It is also rumoured that the club will send the player on loan to any one of the “City Group” clubs to get some game time before he is ready for the Premier League action. He tweeted:

More from Transfers and Rumors

"Confirmed and done deal. Manchester City sign Darío Ariel Sarmiento from Estudiantes, the Argentinian winger [18 years old] will arrive in June to join City Group.  #MCFC Details: $6m guaranteed + $12m add ons + 20% future sale to Estudiantes. Five years contract.  (Via: Twitter)"

Manchester City had to beat the likes of Liverpool for the signature. The wunderkind is a left-footed player with a Midas touch on the ball. He is one of the few players who can not only dribble and wriggle past the defenders but can also initiate the attack. Because of his ability to cut back and put the delivery into the box, Estudiantes often played him as a right-winger. The 18-year-old can play anywhere across the front three and come in handy for a side that is managed by a tactician like Pep Guardiola.

Manchester City have solid bench strength and only requires a talismanic striker to replace departing Sergio Aguero. Also, they would like to add a defensive midfielder to replace ageing Fernandinho. The signing of Sarmiento represents a long-term plan which is set to take place at Etihad.
