Mbappé in no rush to renew his contract with a salary increase key to resigning
A player who will be one of the most followed during the summer transfer window is Kylian Mbappe. The player continues to withhold from signing a new deal with PSG, believing time is on his side.
Kylian Mbappe along with Erling Haaland are the two hottest transfer prospects for the summer. Both players are pegged for an exit out of their respective clubs being linked with a move to a host of Europe’s elite.
As things stand with the Frenchman, he has Paris Saint-Germain sweating his departure not only because he is leaving before he hits his prime but because he could leave on a cheap or even a free if he decides to see out his current deal out which ends in a year from now, June 30, 2022.

The player, however, has made it clear what it would take the Parisian to keep him at the club – and that is a massive salary increase. According to reports he requesting to earn the same salary as his teammate, Neymar.
The Daily Mail goes on in saying Mbappe wants a pay raise that sees him take home £600k per week while other outlets suggest the requested figure is €300k a week. Either or, that’s megabucks for the World Cup winner.
"Can ANYONE afford Kylian Mbappe?! Football’s hottest property ‘scares off even mega-rich Manchester City with demands for £600,000-per-week’ as Pep Guardiola ramps up his hunt for Sergio Aguero’s long-term successor."
Manchester City out of the race and searching for alternative options
With this recent news that is also shocking, Pep Guardiola and City have turned their attention elsewhere. They are unwilling to fork out the exuberant wages for Mbappe and will look at cheaper buys.
This leaves Real Madrid in the lead with Liverpool said to be second in line. It will already cost either of these clubs around £174m for Kylian Mbappe.
This transfer will be demanding on the pocket for a player who is a world-class 22-year-old but unproven outside of Ligue 1 – and is yet to bring home Champions League gold.
"The former Monaco forward has just over a year left on his current deal and is likely to leave on a free transfer in the summer of 2022, with PSG said to be demanding interested clubs pay £174million for him when the transfer window reopens.Real Madrid remain favourites to sign Mbappe, while Liverpool have also been credited with an interest in one of football’s most exciting young talents. However, it appears as though City will not enter the race to sign him as they look to keep the harmony within Pep Guardiola’s squad. Nonetheless, the forward is one of the most consistent and ruthless goalscorers in the world, despite him playing in a league considered less competitive than the Spanish La Liga, English Premier League and German Bundesliga.
Since joining forces with Neymar and co (four seasons at PSG. for Mbappe), he has consistently chipped in with a 20+ goal contribution.
This certainly gives reason to the high value and demand of the French club but with one year remaining on his current deal, they will risk losing him on a free.
