Arsenal players still heading for the exit doors at the Emirates
Arsenal expects to find exit deals for several fringe players in what appears to be a busy January transfer window for them. Four players have been transfer listed by the North London club.
The Gunners have been the busiest of the usual top-six sides. They’ve seen a handful of players leave the club while welcoming a trio of new names as well.
Mikel Arteta and the board have added Omar Rekik from Hertha Berlin; Mat Ryan from Brighton on loan; as well as Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid on loan. Heading in the opposite direction five players already with another four to follow.
It’s hard to tell if they will spend more money on another couple of fresh faces with sales and departures needing to happen before dipping into the market again. Time might catch up with them.

Arsenal players transfer listed for loan or permanent moves away from the club
The players who have left the Emirates already; Sead Kolasinac left for Schalke on Loan; William Saliba to Nice on Loan; Matt Macey to Hibernian on a permanent deal – with Sokratis and Mesut Ozil being released by the club to join Olympiacos and Fenerbahce, respectively.
The players on the exit list and who will likely leave before the January window closes in a few days time are Reiss Nelson; Joe Willock; and Calum Chambers – Shkodran Mustafi is the final Arsenal outfielder who made the list.
With Mustafi they will be looking to terminate his current deal and find a similar solution to that of Ozil and Sokratis, whose contracts were cancelled and left by mutual consent.
Besides the German centre-back Mustafi, the other players potentially on their way out of North London are talented youngsters with the potential to be world-beaters one day. But game time and gaining experience will have to happen outside of the Emirates for this to happen.
Breaking into the first-team could be a difficult ask with the new January arrivals and Arteta’s preferred XI playing a much better brand of football over the last few games. The Gunners boss has also spoken of Ainsley Maitland-Niles and his limited chances in recent fixtures.
Mikel Arteta made it clear that he needs to work harder and fight for his starting spot – if he wants to cement his place in the team. The Gunners currently sit 9th in the EPL standings and are seven points off fourth-placed Liverpool and three points off sixth-placed Spurs.
They have gone six games without a loss and have a mouth-watering rivalry standoff coming against Manchester United. They too have been in fine fettle but have lost their most recent PL encounter.
Arguably the biggest upset of Matchday 20. They give up all the points against Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United, who have now only won two games and their first win on the road.
This balances out the odds for both clubs and has set us up for what could be the most intense United-Arsenal meeting in recent years.
