Congratulations to Jack Wilshere who now calls himself a Cherry as he joins Bournemouth on a short-term contract, following a short spell without belonging to a club.

Wilshere started his week off with a bright Monday and not a Blue Monday (Blue Monday has moved from the 20th to the 18th this year if you didn’t know) as he finds himself a new-old club to ply his trade at.

Early during the day the player took to social media, as well as the club, to make the proud announcement. One cannot be anything else but happy for Jack old boy, following a tough time for him as a footballer.

Jack Wilshere’s injury-riddled Arsenal career

The player who was once proclaimed to be the best English midfielder after the Three Lions’ golden era by ex-Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger and Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard, found life as professional soccer player really challenging.

This was because he struggled to stay fit throughout his playing career. His time at Arsenal came to an abrupt end while they were under the management of Unai Emery.

His longest period being fit and available for selection was during the 2010/11 season. He completed 35 Premier League games for the Gunners, thereafter he struggled with fitness issues and managed less and less appearances.

He left the Emirates back in June 2018 when his contract expired at the North London club. Many clubs were interested in signing him but it was West Ham, led by Manuel Pellegrini at the time, who reached an agreement with him.
