Chelsea are prepared to lose Fikayo Tomori on a permanent basis as the player nears a move to Serie A outfit, AC Milan.

Last summer Fikayo Tomori was inches away from a Chelsea exit. This winter, no difference except the fact it could finally happen with the club now ready to listen to offers.

As per reports earlier in the week, there were a number of top clubs across Europe interested in the young defender and since then, the rumours of him leaving Stamford Bridge has intensified.

It was initially said the club will only allow a loan move to help further Tomori’s experience at the highest level, however, Frank Lampard is willing to offload the player for good in a hope to recover some funds for players he needs at the Bridge.

More from Chelsea

"Milan have entered the race to sign Fikayo Tomori on loan for the rest of the season. The Serie A leaders are looking to strengthen at the back and are considering the Chelsea defender as an alternative to Strasbourg’s Mohamed Simakan."

As things stand according to the transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Blues want in excess of €30m for Fikayo Tomori if a loan deal can be struck with AC Milan. The negotiations between the Premier League side and Serie A club is ongoing.

Adding to the story, the 23-year-old would be more than delighted to switch to Italy if the move was to transpire over the next few days or in the up and coming weeks before the window closes.

Chelsea have other plans

Fikayo Tomori’s chances have been limited since the arrival of Thiago Silva. Frank Lampard’s centre-back pairing has consisted of Silva and Kurt Zouma for the most part. Making it even harder for him [Tomori] to stay in London is the possibility of Chelsea signing new players.

They have joined in on the race for RB Leipzig’s breakout centre-half Dayot Upamecano. The Bundesliga defender has attracted interest from rivals Liverpool and La Liga giants Real Madrid.

Many things need to happen for a Tomori-Milan switch to be finalised. The Italian side is said to be in for Mohamed Simakan with the Englishman serving as an alternative option if a deal for Strasbourg’s Simakan falls through.

"Tomori’s hopes of joining Milan could rest on the Italian club missing out on Simakan. They want to buy the French centre-back but face stiff competition from RB Leipzig for the 20-year-old. (Via: theguardian.com)"

Everton and Liverpool were both interested in the summer but the likelihood of Chelsea selling to a Premier League rival is zero. Tomori has only taken part in 45 minutes of Premier League action. In total the player has featured a measly four times for the Blues this season.
