Brighton and Hove Albion look to extend Tariq Lamptey’s contract
By Varun Aithal
In order to avoid competition from top Premier League clubs, Brighton and Hove Albion are all set to provide an improvised contract for Tariq Lamptey.
Since his move from Stamford Bridge, Tariq Lamptey had hit top form at the Amex Stadium before an injury halted his progress.
The lightning-quick right wing-back suffered an injury in a goalless draw against Fulham in mid-December. Graham Potter, the gaffer, updated Brighton fans that the player might be out until early February.
"He will probably have to take a couple of steps back, which is disappointing for us and obviously for him too. It means he is going to be out for a few more weeks yet(Via: DailyMail)"

Despite the injury concern, the club is looking to offer the U-21 English international a new contract to fend off interest from English top-flight clubs and others across Europe.
Brighton have been impressed by Lamptey’s performances since his deadline day move to the south-coast club back in January 2020.
With regards to the new deal, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano tweeted:
"Brighton are planning to offer a new contract to Tariq Lamptey, as many clubs are looking at the former Chelsea right back for next summer."
Tariq Lamptey has not only impressed his manager but has also caught the attention of giants like Bayern Munich along with Atletico Madrid and Arsenal. Arsenal have struggled to create chances on the right-flank and have shortlisted Max Aarons along with Lamptey to fill the void.
However, the Gunners are yet to initiate talks with either of the two’s respective clubs. According to Alex Crook, Brighton are set to make Tariq Lamptey one of the top earners at the Amex Stadium. Alex Crooks believes that Lamptey is one of the best bargain buys in recent times.
He opined:
"When you consider that Brighton signed him for around £4million, he has to be one of the bargain buys of recent times. He’s by no means the Seagulls’ top earner, and that’s interesting because I’m being told this morning that he’s close to agreeing a new contract(Via: talksport)"
In 11 Premier League games for the Seagulls, the 20-year-old right-back has performed beyond expectations. The player has raked in one goal and one assist apart from putting in a solid shift in defense.
Defensively, he has added 13 interceptions and 17 tackles to his name. For his performance against Newcastle United, Jamie Carragher was all praise for the youngster.
