Brighton doing the transfer window right with them being two signings down already
What did Graham Potter struggle with, in his maiden campaign as a Premier League boss?
Potter’s 15th-place finish in the standings is far from a good reflection and took a lot of hard work on the home stretch of the final matchdays of the campaign. They struggled to make sure they stayed adrift from one of the relegation spots. But it’s an improvement nonetheless. Teams in their position want to climb the table and improve with each passing season.
Potters men have done that but in small gains. The season prior to this one past was an even tougher fight. They ended just ahead of the drop zone in 17th, hence the switch between Chris Hughton to the current boss, Potter. They conceded 60 goals and only managed to score 35. Their point tally was a lousy 36 points. Five points less than this season’s 41.

Their goal tally this campaign, 39 for and 54 against. Small improvements are visible but not a big enough stride. Now Potter needs to add some players that have experience at the highest level. This is where Adam Lallana comes in.
A Champions League and Premier League winner. A Promotional man and a player who has led some of the best players under some of the best managers in the game today. The lot of Jurgen Klopp, Mauricio Pochettino, and Brendan Rodgers has worked with Lallana, with all men labelling his leadership as one of his key assets.
The Englishman can dictate the pace of the game and can manage the midfield area, practically bully teams fighting for mid-table spots. This is where he would be used if he was playing in a Liverpool sweater.
Klopp would have employed him to marshal teams, not in the running and lower down in the standings. A different fight but the same purpose he plays. This is also where the Seagulls needed work completed. Not being able to take control of the game has seen them fail many times.
The 31-year-old is the perfect man to help guide the team and its youngsters to great success and an even better finish than last season’s 15th place. He can chip in with goals and assists. When he is in fine form we know he can be one of the best.
Next up their second signing.
