The second week running and Danny Rose has his say on the matter. The player is said to be living in fear for his health amid the Premier League’s “Project Restart” plans.

Last week Danny Rose took to social media and aired his opinion on the Premier League giving the go-ahead to restart the incomplete 2019-2020 campaign. A date as ambitious as June 1 was produced first. After the 1st was deemed too early, it was said maybe the 12th will be a better date.

Sadly, another six confirmed cases of COVID-19 has surfaced, forcing an inevitable push back of the EPL’s “Project Restart“. This continues to leave doubt over whether we’d see a restart before June ends or before the end of the year, taking into consideration the rate of impediments that keeps popping up.

How Tuesday punched the EPL’s lights out

It started with Brighton and their three Seagulls who contracted the Coronavirus just as the Premier League proudly announced, “Project Restart”. This, plus the high totals in COVID-19 case and the total number of deaths looming over the UK today.

Following the early drama causing hesitation amongst players, the EPL ran their first mass testing. Watford defender, Adrian Mariappa, was the one player who admitted to testing positive. He along with two staff members form three of the six found positive.

Joining them is Burnley‘s assistant manager, Ian Woan, with the other two remaining anonymous. Due to all of this, more questions are being raised by the players.

The Rose rant:

More from Newcastle

"I could be potentially risking my health for people’s entertainment and that’s not something I want to be involved in if I’m honest. Danny Rose believes Premier League footballers are being treated like “lab rats” in Project Restart.I’m dying to get back to football but just with the things that are happening right now, people are going through this coronavirus pandemic a lot worse than me, I don’t want to be complaining about everything.Just off the fact that people are suggesting we should go back to football, like we’re guinea pigs or lab rats. We’re going to experiment this phase and see if it works or not. (Via: Sky Sports)"

The rant is not a far stretch nor is he wrong for feeling this way. The number of deaths recorded globally has left a lot of people scared to face the world and switch back to reality.

Contract extension – New date, same player, same ending. dark. Next

Although the “lab rats” comment throws one-off. The Bundesliga got off to a good start. Extensive precautions were put in place and because of this, they are already a full matchday down. None of the German League’s “lab rats” rebuked football.

Neither did any of them complain and just did what was most important… Worry about each other’s well-being and work together to install extreme health and safety measures. Yes, it’s been mentioned previously, no country’s Coronavirus situation should be compared to the next, but follow their (Germans) example and you could achieve the same great things.
