Barcelona’s search for a new striker carries on – Premier League’s best on alert
As if Arsenal needs a club like Barcelona knocking on the door for one of the most lethal assets in front of goal, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The Spanish giants need a new hitman and they don’t know where to find one!
On Tuesday Sky Sports reported the transfer market bullies Barcelona is in a frantic hunt for a replacement striker after Luis Suárez was ruled out of action for the next four months. This following a knee injury sustained in the second week of January forcing the player into surgery.
The Catalan side has made life difficult for themselves as they run out of valuable time to add a fresh face to the strike force. Edison Cavani was the name mentioned the most with a switch to Spain. However, any attempt in signing the Uruguayan has come to a halt.
Both them and regularly La Liga contenders Atletico Madrid were rumoured to be very close to a deal going off. Weeks on and Cavani is still in PSG colours till this day. Of all clubs in the game across Europe, PSG and Napoli are the most unfavourable clubs to trade with and get players from.

Always a game with these clubs. With him looking destined for a Ligue 1 stay, other forwards have come forth, but the funds might not be there for them to make such “dream signings”. They already spent a tremendous amount on Antoine Griezmann.
"Lautaro Martinez – The 22-year-old has scored 10 goals in 19 Serie A appearances so far for the Nerazzurri, adding a further five in the Champions League, and has formed an excellent partnership with Romelu Lukaku.Martinez’s agent, Alberto Yaque, confirmed Barca’s interest as far back as July last year, while Barcelona director Pau Vilanova said in December: “Lautaro is a topic of conversation that concerns the technical staff. Lautaro is a great player, we have seen his qualities in our recent meetings.” (Via: Squawka.com)"
Considered the dream signing purely based on the fact he is leading a great fight with Antonio Conte in the Serie A and convincing him to break up an outstanding world-class striker partnership with Romelu Lukaku would be impossible. Conclusion? This one is way out of the question and will be a shot in the dark this January.
The EPL must brace themselves – Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
Barcelona’s feeder team is currently excelling at life in the Premier League and each player in their camp are way too happy to be bothered by a move away from Anfield. In this specific situation, the Catalan side would have been sniffing around their location for new meat.
Thankfully, because of Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool has become a dead-end destination presently and is no longer a “stepping stone” for those who eventually become world-beaters.
The club from Spain must now look in other regions of England and find small cracks where they can fit in their ill ways of business practice. After recent reports, it sounds like they’ve found one. Or so they think.
The only Premier League hitman named is Arsenal striker and captain, Aubameyang. Will he leave? I doubt it highly. With the new “Arteta Architecture” that one too many can actually see working in the foreseeable future and beyond, leaving will be hard.
To add to the new-look Arsenal, he is enjoying the responsibility of having to carry the Gunners. He will opt to stay in the North of London. Yet, it has to be said, it’s not only now that Barca has been in for the ex-BVB forward. They have flirted in the past.
