No jabs, just straight out deadly blows between Arsenal and Spurs. A double blow dealt by those in the red corner of North London against those in the white corner.

Unai Emery and his Arsenal side are building the Emirates and doing so in fast fashion. Excitingly, on the other side of the north, rivals Mauricio Pochettino and his Spurs are busy with their own reinforcements to help White Hart Lane become an impenetrable fortress.

All this building and preparation work has accomplished one thing. That makes all excited for what’s to come when it’s North London derby day.

More from Arsenal

From making no signings last season to making a few record-breaking ones this transfer window, the men in white have applied pressure on their northern counterparts to take action in the market.

Before battling on the field in the Premier League or any other competitions, the two have already been fighting each other off for fresh blood. And by the look of things… Arsenal signings are giving their nemesis the snub.

Both, William Saliba and Dani Ceballos cancelled moves to the state-of-the-art White Hart Lane for dream moves to the Emirates.

This has inevitably created more tension in the North London rivalry and gives us a taste of what will go down this season, perhaps.

How far apart are Arsenal and Spurs from each other?

Both made their respective European Cup finals last season but both clubs failed to take gold in their efforts. In their Premier League struggles, the Gunners closed down the point gap to just one compared to the points situation the season before which was a 14-point gap.

Therefore, this displays the whites of the North are still way ahead of their bitter neighbours. However, things are looking threatening this season for all of the top six Premier League clubs.

These signings have added heat to a flame already burning a hot red and ashy white. We can already anticipate one of the best North London showdowns for a while.
