Arsenal have finally agreed on a deal for William Saliba with Saint-Etienne. Rumoured interest from Spurs seems to have been just that, rumours. The player will return to France on loan for next season.

With pre-season thrown into disarray, following captain Laurent Koscielny’s decision not to meet up with the rest of the squad, this signing comes at just the right time for Unai Emery’s men.

The 18-Year-Old Frenchman, who stands a rather imposing six-foot-four, is dominant both on the ground and, understandably, in the air. He’s physical, good on the ball and will take no prisoners from Premier League forwards.

More from Arsenal

Not forgetting, going back on loan to Saint-Etienne gives him another year experience when he does eventually join up with his new teammates at The Emirates in 2020.

The 18-year-old should prosper with another season in France’s Top Flight under his belt, experience key at such a young age. A big-money signing, he would maybe struggle to break Arsenal’s first team this coming year.

His Arsenal teammate Koscielny (at least for now) might not see the young man as a top signing that could change his stance, but in football do we ever know? Could he even end up facing the Arsenal captain in Ligue 1 with the current situation?

"Arsenal have reached an agreement in principle with Saint-Etienne to sign defender William Saliba, Sky Sports News understands. The deal will see Saliba return to the Ligue 1 side on loan next season. It is understood Tottenham had been in talks with the French side but never made a formal bid for the player. (via. Other Transfers taking place for the Gunners

Talks of Wilfried Zaha becoming a Gunner continue to float around the rumour mill, with Celtic defender Kieran Tierney also on the radar of the North London club, whilst Dani Cabellos of Real Madrid has also been linked with a loan move. Defenders are aplenty!

Signings are needed for a team that hasn’t finished in the Top 4 in the English Premier League since season 15/16, the same year Leicester shocked the world and won the league title!
