Injury news: Arsenal Cech on Petr’s injury – Not long they say and Leno ready
Not what Unai needed just as the Gunners hit a steady run of form across all competitions. Hopefully, new addition, Leno is up to the task of filling in.
During Saturday’s crammed fixture fest, the Gunners took on the once lethal Hornets at the Emirates stadium. It was a competitive meeting between the two in London. Watford were determine to get back to their best, whereas the Gunners were trying to maintain the winning momentum.
The game started with a stinging Hornets’ side, who were just inches away from going ahead on more than one occasion. No goal came before the halftime break, but it was then the hapless victim was claimed during the war between shots and stings.

Just before the clock alarmed for the halftime break, Cech pulled up while taking a goal kick. Not the first this has happened to a keeper. He was replaced by German and new keeper, Leno. He had moments he would like to forget but held down the clean sheet for both, him and Cech with equally good saves. Leaving the fixture with all the points of the match.
How serious is his injury?
It was sad but encouraging to see the 1,9m keeper walk off the field, instead of being stretched off by medical staff. At first when he went down and it was noticeable that he was holding his hamstring.
When you think hammy… You think” boy that’s a long time spectating”. Gladly, it was said that in three weeks from now – he should be back to full training. That’s a short spell, well shorter spell to sit out from action, considering the problem.
The question now… Will he be missed?
His presence and experienced will be missed, surely. He made a couple of worthy saves before being led off the pitch. The only problem both him and the rest of the backline were culprits of? Suspicious play when playing out from the back.
Unai led Cech into the dark over the first few games, giving me the idea he would swap the two out soon. However, Petr kept his place as the first-choice keeper of the club and progressed positively, each game.
Emery’s confident that nothing will change from this when Leno grabs the chance afforded him to him now. The 26-year-old has spoken out and has vowed that he will make good on the opportunity handed by Cech’s injury.
