Liverpool: Danny Ings can leave Anfield with Burnley reunion on the cards
Not what the Englishman expected when joining the Reds back in 2015, after a fantastic spell at his previous club Burnley.
Danny Ings’ life at Liverpool was not the easiest for any footballer to endure. After a promising start under previous manager Brendan Rodgers, the striker was sure to continue in the same vein under Klopp.
However, a fatal right hook followed by an uppercut, knocked him out of the Liverpool squad for consecutive seasons. Since then, it never really got going for him. Used as a backup striker and always having to recover to regaining match fitness dented his chances of ever getting a solid start in the team.
What made matters worse for the forward, Klopp’s genius move to make Roberto Firmino the number 9 of the club, has aided in keeping him out of the team. Not always the simplest of tasks to take a Brazilian playing at Roberto’s level at the moment, out of the team.
With injuries a constant threat to the Reds’ bench – the club decided to sign another striker last summer, Dominic Solanke. We can say it was almost inevitable that we now hear the news of Danny wanting to leave.

Seasons on and Danny wants regular football
It’s only understandable the forward wants to move on. If last season was anything to go by – Ings would never see a start in a competitive game. The likes of Divock Origi, Daniel Sturridge, and Dominic Solanke will all get the nod before Danny does.
Liverpool have stated they would love for the stocky forward to stay, but game time is something Klopp can’t guarantee him. in saying this, I always admire a player ready to mount a serious challenge and play for his spot in the team.
Like Emre Can, who has now finally signed with Juventus, I feel it’s an easy way out. Emre felt his place was endangered and looked for options afar from Anfield.
For the German, he had a better chance of making the starting eleven. For Ings it’s far more difficult with the attacking powers they possess up front, as well the formation they play with doesn’t count in the Englishman’s favour.
Burnley the right stop spot
After the not so shocking news of Danny Ings, the one name you would think came up, came up. Burnley Football Club. I’d say for this one, it couldn’t be more fitting for him to return to Dyche’s project and continue where he started off in the English Premier League.
Any move besides Burnley would be a step backwards, or sideways in his career. Liverpool would never consider a move to rivalling neighbours Everton, who are said to be very interested. Would be the dumbest move of the lot.

With Burnley on route to Europa, two qualifying legs to play, and his experiences gained from Liverpool’s Champions League run, makes it great business. Dyche’s transfer philosophy and Liverpool’s nature to save money goes hand-in-hand.
That, and any sale made by the Reds of Danny Ings, the Clarets receive a 20 percent on the striker.
