The Polish goalkeeper didn’t have to wait too long to retain his Premier League status.
West Ham has agreed to a fee of around $9.3 million to bring Lukasz Fabianski to London Stadium, the club announced on Wednesday.
The goalkeeper has been a notable name in the transfer market after he has made it clear that he won’t spend next season at relegated, Swansea. Fabianski joined The Jacks after seven seasons at Arsenal in 2014 and had been an integral part of the team since.
In four seasons at the club, Fabianski registered 499 saves, the most during this span, and started all but three matches. He was also voted 2017-18 Swansea Player of the Season.

An 11-year veteran in the Premier League, Fabianski is expected to provide West Ham with an immediate upgrade between the post. The Hammers spent last season trying to solve the goalkeeper’s dilemma, as both incumbent starters Joe Hart and Adrian have been too unreliable to be entrusted.
First choice goes to… Lukasz Fabianski!
As Hart has returned to his parent club Manchester City after a mixed loan spell and Adrian has been on and off the job, Fabianski’s signing adds a quality shot stopper that West Ham has been searching for, for years.
The Polish had a rough start to life in the Premier League as the second-choice goalkeeper for Manuel Almunia and later his compatriot Wojciech Szczesny. Although he showed his promise that Arsene Wenger once declared him would be a leading goalkeeper in the league, his tendency to commit mistakes too often barred him from being a permanent starter in his stint at Arsenal.

Fabianski finally reached his peak at Swansea as the goalkeeper has ended the campaign first, second, third and then second again in the league, in saves. As West Ham’s fragile defensive line ended the campaign with the most goals conceded at 68, Fabianski will provide a major boost in terms of damage control.
The goalkeeper will be West Ham’s third major signing this summer after Ryan Fredericks and Issa Diop joined, as the Hammers look to contend to qualify for Europa League next season.
