The season began with an average set of results. On the opening day, the club comfortably dispatched Newcastle at St James Park with Dele Alli and Ben Davies scoring for Spurs.

However, the following two results were disappointing at the club’s temporary home. Spurs could only get a point against Burnley, with Dele Alli scoring. They also lost against Chelsea with a late Alonso effort.

However, September was an almost perfect month: A visit to Goodison Park was the first fixture, and the side were clinical in front of goal. Both Christian Eriksen and Harry Kane netted their first goals of the campaign, with the Englishman getting a double.

The patchy home form continued as Swansea travelled to Wembley and left with a point after a goalless draw. But, the Lilywhites continued to thrive away from home and dismantled West Ham with an exciting 3-2 win. Kane again netted a brace, whilst Eriksen also found the net. Aurier was sent off, and this made the final few minutes tense.

The final match of the month saw Spurs win at the John Smith’s Stadium, with Kane netting his third double in three Premier League outings. This included a fantastic curled effort from range for his second. The thriving Ben Davies and Moussa Sissoko were also on target.
