With Bayern Munich and Real Madrid being the best teams in their national leagues, only one thing is for sure – we’re in for an amazing match!

This Wednesday, Real Madrid will travel to Allianz Arena to take on Bayern Munich. If you were to look at each team by position, it is not hard to see why this game is going to set the stage a light. They are absolutely stacked with elite players on both sides.

In Bayern’s entire Champions League run this season they have only lost once (W-L-W-W-W-W-W-W-W-D). Silently, the German leaders (certain Bundesliga champions) cruised through to the knockout stages and to the semis. They most notably – flew under the radar.

More from The Top Flight

The difference-maker may very well be James Rodriguez – the one that got away. Real had him last year for their Champions League win but he is now on loan to Bayern.

The Colombian International is certainly being used. James serves as a skillful, attacking midfielder and is a magician when it comes to assists. Real Madrid will miss him, to say the least.

Unfortunately, they suffered an injury to Manuel Neuer. Since he is likely to be out of this game – there is a real danger for the home side. Ulreich is definitely a capable keeper but he’s not on the same level as Neuer, or Real Madrid’s Navas for that matter.

Bayern also have a pair of deadly defensive wing-backs in Alaba and Kimmich. Both are capable of holding it down in defense and supporting the offense.

Meanwhile in Madrid…

Meanwhile, Real has had a bit more of a challenge this season with 2 losses (W-W-D-L-W-W-W-W-W-L). Unlike Bayern, though, they will have their best starting 11 available.

Real are absolutely spoiled for choice when it comes to forward and defender options. Ronaldo has enjoyed a legendary Champion’s League season with an insane 15 goals.

In this game he may be flanked by Isco and Asensio, both being tenacious attackers. To follow up on their attack, Real have one of the best midfielders in the world with Casemiro, Modric, and Kroos.

That being said, they are quite predictable. Many times it is not hard to guess who will receive the last pass. While Bayern are team-oriented, Real are Ronaldo-oriented. But hey, he is the top scorer in Champions League history, so why not?

The Spanish giants has taken ownership of this fixture over recent years. Real Madrid have won all of their last 3 meetings in the UCL. They scored 10 times over these games. While this has shown an absolute domination in recent history, their luck just might turn this time.
