The Bluebirds smashed Nottingham Forest 2-1 and with only two matches left, as they added fire to the battle in search of Premier League promotion.

Imagine having a team who were relegated five years ago, who now stand a chance to take an automatic promotion to play in The Top Flight.  That is the situation for Cardiff City, who have 86 points, making it able for us to say they’are almost in division one.

The welsh team fought off the legendary Nottingham Forest and got a 3-1 win at Cardiff City stadium. Sean Morrison and Aron Gunnarsson, notched goals for the home side, whilst Liam Bridcutt took a chance for the visitors. But if you thought it was an easy game you are totally wrong, Cardiff almost lost the game but were saved by their keeper from total despair.

With this result, the bluebirds ascended to 86 points, only a point more than Fulham. Nevertheless, the club from Wales have three more games to confirm their intentions, which gives them an advantage beyond others.

Fulham wins Friday, puts pressure on Cardiff and the same goes for Aston Villa

With a brilliant second half, Fulham got a 3-0 win against Millwall on Friday at Den stadium. Ryan Sessegnon, Kevin McDonald, and Aleksandar Mitrovic all scored in the second half. Thus, the Lillywhites rises to 85 points and are in third place in the Sky Bet Championship standings.

The match was a hard task for the Londoners, however, they displayed poor football in the first 45 minutes of the game. Losing passes and showing a nervousness in front of the opposition’s goalmouth.

Nevertheless, they won the match during the second period, this thanks to the Newcastle loanee, Mitrovic. He was involved in almost all the attacking moves for the white.

The force has awoken – the fight will continue to the end

This awoken the hope that Fulham could get a possible lift and play in the first division after three years of playing in the second tier. Fingers crossed I suppose?

On the other hand, Aston Villa who is fourth in the standings with 81 points, equaled their best performance as they beat 10-men Ipswich Town 4-0, this Saturday past.

If the Cardiff fans thought it would be easy, and have an easy route into the top flight, they certainly have changed their minds. A draw for the next match is not an option if the target is to be promoted to the first row.

Next: Signing Sanchez might not be worth it for United

What happened this weekend only helped put a question up about, who is going to climb up with Wolverhampton Wanderers? The Wolves are leading the standing with 13 points more than Fulham and 12 for Cardiff, having already been crowned as champions this year.

Which reminds me that the fight for second place, is one of the most exciting battles to follow this end of season and nothing is dead until the last match at the last second.
