For the first time in Klopp’s history of being Liverpool’s manager, things finally look up for the German. Already having Alberto Moreno return, and Joe Gomez, gives Liverpool a full-strength backline.

Before Liverpool took flight and flew over to Portugal – reports broke of a Nathaniel Clyne returning to Anfield, and full training.

The right back has been injured, and sorely missed for most of the season – but now travelled with the squad after being named in it.

Klopp will be glad to have the only experienced right back, return to the squad and ready for selection.

Clyne formed part of a ruthless, attacking Liverpool team, and has been missed in high-profile games, where the inexperience of both, Gomez and Trent, got the better of them.

“Clyney is back; of course, it is absolutely too early to think about him, but he is back in normal training, so that’s cool. He’s been training for two days but after that long of a break, it will take time until he is able to play.”

Liverpool were treading lightly with a thin squad of players in the fullback positions. Alberto Moreno, Joe Gomez, and Nathaniel Clyne, were all out of action.

The one Englishman spent the longest time missing action, and the other [Gomez] the shortest spell.

Now all three players are back – all while the other defenders has found form, which inevitably creates, the healthy headache of whom to choose for the next fixture.

In saying this – this will still be welcomed by Klopp, as he would like to go into the most treacherous parts of Champions League and Premier League, with his best options.

What difference will he make

Clyne walks into the first team with his experience. He too – has the ability to function on both sides of the pitch, making him indispensable to this team.

Nathaniel has a massive understanding of Klopp’s style of play, and fits in the system like a missing cogwheel. It will take time – as said by the manager, so expecting the fullback to return to action later, rather than sooner.

Klopp has a working system with determine young players doing to the job, well above average. Now with Clyne back – Liverpool can boast a better defence, than when they started without van Dijk.

One more thing with the return of Clyne – Liverpool will only be a left back short of a fully fit, Southampton backline when they play Clyne, van Dijk, and Lovren together.
