Chelsea have made a shock loan move for Leicester City striker Islam Slimani, according to the Daily Mail.
The Blues are desperate to sign a striker before the end of the transfer window but do not want to break the bank in doing so. They saw a move for West Ham forward Andy Carroll, fall through last week as he has suffered an ankle injury.
It is obvious that Antonio Conte feels that Chelsea need a big target man as another option in attack. The Blues have also been linked with shock moves for Stoke City’s Peter Crouch, Crystal Palace’s, Christian Benteke and Tottenham Hotspur’s, Fernando Llorente.

They have been heavily linked with Roma’s striker Edin Dzeko as well. However, although he is probably the best striker out of the names that have been mentioned, he wouldn’t be eligible to play in the Champions League, which is a blow for Chelsea. Therefore, they have switched their attention to Islam Slimani.

Not your usual transfer:
The 29 year-old Algerian striker has struggled since moving to Leicester City, and this has to be one of the strangest rumours of the transfer window. It does show Chelsea’s desperation to bring in a striker. They aim to sign Slimani on a loan deal until the end of the season, which would suit Leicester as they will want to get him off their wage bill.
Slimani could be a shrewd signing for Chelsea. You never know, he could be better playing with better quality players. He has played in the Champions League before and is an experienced striker who could play to Chelsea’s strengths.
