Want to know why Chelsea will win the Premier League this season? Just take one look at the Blues win over Manchester City.

Chelsea beat Manchester City 2-1 at Stamford Bridge to take one more step towards the Premier League title. It was far from a vintage display from Antonio Conte’s team in terms of quality. But in terms of style, it kind of was vintage of this season’s Blues.

Chelsea just get the job done. Whatever that job is, whatever the job calls for, Chelsea have the tools for the mission. Need to attack and open a defensive team up? Fine. Need to defend and play on the counter attack? No problem. Need to fight and play physical? They’ve got that too.

City played well for the majority of the game, but defensive errors cost Pep Guardiola’s team once again. Conversely, that is the story of Manchester City’s season. Pretty much dominate a game, create chances, miss them, and then concede poor goals at the other end.

City can win any game, and they can draw or lose any game, too. The consistency is just not there right now, game in, game out. Consistency has been Chelsea’s trademark for much of this season. Not consistency in style of play, but in getting the job done. Winning.

The Blues had a bump in the road last weekend against Crystal Palace. Conte’s team lost their first game since the beginning of January. People wondered whether the league leaders might just collapse now? Whether they would start to drop more points?

Surprise, surprise, that was not the case. Normal service has already been resumed. After the season Chelsea have had so far, everybody should have known better. Conte has built a well-rounded, extremely organized and mentally strong machine.

Unlike City, Chelsea are not great in one facet of the game, and weak in some others. They’re good everywhere. The closest to Chelsea in that regard this season has been Tottenham. Spurs have the best defense in the league, but have just drawn too many games.

Meanwhile, City cannot defend. Manchester United are organized, but lack goals and creativity outside of Zlatan Ibrahimovich. Arsenal lack leadership, fight and the right mentality. Liverpool struggle to break down defensive teams and let too many goals in their own net.

All of the other potential title candidates have that one flaw that has held them back this year. Not Chelsea. The Blues are far from perfect, but they are well versed in every aspect of the game.

Mentally strong and physically strong. Skillful and hard-working. Offensively gifted and defensively stubborn. Chelsea have showed they can adapt to and handle any situation or type of game this season.

Which is why the Blues will be crowned 2016-17 Premier League champions.
