Danny Rose has been a pivotal player for Tottenham this season, but the left back is set for some time on the sidelines.

Danny Rose picked up a knee injury during Tottenham Hotspur‘s disappointing 0-0 draw with Sunderland on Tuesday. Rose limped off in the 38th minute and was replaced by Ben Davies at left back.

The true extent of the injury will be unknown until the player has a scan. But the club fear that Rose has suffered medial ligament damage and will miss the whole of February, according to The Sun.

Pochettino will now have to turn to Davies more often, if Rose is indeed absent for the next month. Davies is a dependable full back but will need rest with a packed month of games coming up.

February kicks off with a home game against Middlesbrough in the Premier League on Saturday. Before a trip to Anfield to play Liverpool follows the week after. A first leg Europa League tie against Gent is then wedged between the Anfield trip and an FA Cup clash with Fulham.

The return leg against Gent takes place next, before Spurs round the month off at home to Stoke City. There are no standout games, other than the Liverpool showdown. But February is crammed with fixtures once the second half of the month rolls around.

Pochettino will have to juggle his pack, although Spurs already have some injury problems to deal with. In defense in particular, Jan Vertonghen is already sidelined with an ankle injury until later this month.

Which makes the Rose injury all the more tough to take with Vertonghen usually able to fill in at left back if necessary. Not this month though. Tottenham have drawn their last two Premier League games, too, and need to get back on track if they are to apply any pressure to leaders Chelsea.

Spurs really need to keep an eye on teams behind them also, with only one point now separating Spurs in 2nd and Manchester City in 5th. Things are tightening up in the race to secure a top four spot in the Premier League.

This knee injury to Danny Rose is not going to help Tottenham’s cause.
