Over the last couple of nights, there were plenty of Premier League footballers in action representing their nations in South America's CONEMBOL qualifying group.

Premier League international round up: South America

Emiliano Martinez, Cristian Romero, Lisandro Martinez, Alexis Mac Allister and Enzo Fernandez all started for Argentina in their 3-0 win over Chile in World Cup qualifying. Alejandro Garnacho registered an assist off the bench. Ben Brereton Diaz was a second half substitute for Chile, who only have five points from seven qualifiying games so far, with their place at the World Cup already in jeopardy despite the extended amount of teams.

Firstly, Manuel Ugarte got some much needed minutes in the legs for Uruguay, starting the game and playing 79 mintues as Marcelo Bielsa's side played against Paraguay at home, in veteran Luis Suarez' last ever game for his country. Rodrigo Bentancur and Darwin Nunez are serving four match international bans so were unavailable for selection. Santiago Bueno came on at half-time. Miguel Almiron and Julio Enciso started for Paraguay.

Alisson, Gabriel Magalhaes, Bruno Guimares, Andre and Lucas Paqueta all started for Brazil in their game against Ecuador. Estevao and Kendry Paez, who will both join Chelsea next summer, both came on for their respective nations. Joao Gomes replaced his new club team mate Andre with five minutes left.

Paqueta assisted Rodrygo for his goal in the first half, that ended up being enough for a huge three points for Brazil. This win means they have overtaken their opponents, and move to fourth in the group.

Meanwhile, Daniel Munoz, Jefferson Lerma, Luis Sinisterra and Luis Diaz all started for Colombia in their visit to Peru, who along with Bolivia and Venezuela, were the only teams that were in action not to feature a current Premier League player.

Peru took the lead midway through the second half, as Jhon Duran, who has had a good start to the Premier League season, was introduced shortly after. Ten minutes later, both him and Diaz continued their positive early season form by combining for the equaliser, as Duran teed Diaz up to make it 1-1 and maintain Colombia's place in third position of the group.

In the second round of fixtures, Colombia host Argentina, Chile host Bolivia, Ecuador host Peru, Venezuela host Uruguay, and Paraguay host Brazil with all five games set to feature at least one Premier League player.
