On transfer deadline day, Wolves confirmed the signing of highly rated midfielder Andre from Fluminese for a reported fee of £18.6 million pounds.

The 23-year old made his debut for Brazil in June of 2023, and featured against Spain in March of this year, though was not included in the squad for the Copa America over the summer.

Wolves have been known over the years to sign a large influx of Portuguese players, but that has changed to Brazilian players of late. They signed Pedro Lima from Sport Recife earlier this summer, and already have Matheus Cunha and Joao Gomes on the books. Perhaps it's just Portuguese speaking people that Wolves love.

Gomes will have been part of the reason that, as stated above, Andre was not chosen by Brazil for the Copa America, owing to his brilliant 23/24 campaign. Nevertheless, playing in midfield with his compatriot will certainly help Andre settle in.

Wolves confirm signing of highly rated Brazilian

Due to the incredibly intense Brazilian schedule, Andre has already racked up 197 appearances for Fluminese and 202 career appearances in total, despite only turning 23 this summer, He has played 28 games alone so far in 2024, with 27 being for Fluminese,

London based Brazilian football expert Nathan Joyes has described this transfer as the "deal of the window" and that he thinks the midfielder is "destined for greatness. He has said that Andre is a first phase specialist who is able to play the "quarterback role".

It may take a while for Andre to adapt to a new continent, a new language, and generally a new lifestyle. He has only known Brazil so far in his life so may take a while, and that is why his Brazilian and general Portuguese speaking team mates will be important for helping him to settle in.

But, if he does successfully get his feet under the table, he is no doubt a very exciting player and Wolves will have a serious player on their hands.
