When it comes to supporting Arsenal, you have to have a strong heart. And I don’t mean that in a loving way, either. You have to be able to deal with stress well, because it’s going to hugely stressful, on the pitch AND off the pitch.

One team who has given Arsenal plenty of stress on the pitch in recent history is Bayern Munich. If you cast your minds back to those 5-1 humiliations – yeah, it wasn’t pretty, was it?

Well, the Bavarian giants have actually come back to haunt Arsenal in the transfer market. In recent days, fans have felt fear that their primary transfer target Declan Rice was slipping through their fingers. This is due to Thomas Tuchel being in contact with Rice personally.

However, as has been their common theme in recent transfer windows, Edu remained confident he would still be able to sign Rice. In fact, they even verbally agreed terms to sign the midfielder just the other day.

Arsenal target Declan Rice rejects Bayern Munich

According to the Daily Mail, Declan Rice has turned down Bayern Munich. This is because he prefers a move to another Premier League club. While this doesn’t outwardly pinpoint Arsenal (since Manchester United are also interested), it will give Mikel Arteta a real confidence boost. Last week, it was claimed that Rice prefers a move to Arsenal over Manchester United, so make of that what you will.

Either way, with Bayern Munich now out of the race, this gives Arteta the perfect opportunity to sign Rice. Although, they’re likely to remain respectful to West Ham by waiting until after their Europa Conference League final to make an official bid. It’s understandable, however, the Gunners must also be wary of other competition and be quick and efficient about their business.

Do you think Arsenal will sign Declan Rice this summer?
