Chelsea make huge £70m bid for striker, Manchester United plot a hijack
By Kian Long
Chelsea are no strangers to spending big money in the transfer window. Although, this time around they’ll hope to see a better return from their investments. The latest player they’re interested in signing is Dusan Vlahovic, but Manchester United also want to sign him.
According to the latest report from ESPN, Chelsea have submitted a huge £70m bid for Dusan Vlahovic. Vlahovic is unhappy at Juventus and will likely push for a move away this summer, given their defensive tactics and future of the club uncertain.
However, Manchester United are set to throw a spanner into the works, making things much more difficult than they need to be for Chelsea. According to Football Transfers, Manchester United are yet to make a bid for Dusan Vlahovic but they plan to make an official one soon. With Vlahovic stating that he wants to play in the Champions League next season, this would give United an advantage over Chelsea.
Chelsea are no strangers to transfers being hijacked. Although, Todd Boehly won’t like being on the receiving end for once. With Mauricio Pochettino likely taking charge at Stamford Bridge, the luxurious owner wants to make his transition as easy as possible by granting the Argentine any transfers he wishes.
Both Chelsea and Manchester United are desperate to sign a striker for differing reasons. The Blues have about 400 players in their squad and out on loan but for some reason, none of them can adequately play as a striker. Whereas Man United genuinely do need to sign a striker.
I would take this news outbreak with a pinch of salt. The seriousness of Chelsea’s transfers is always under contention and that’s a fault of their own. I’m sure Vlahovic would prefer to sign for United and rightly so but until an official bid is made, nobody can say for sure.
