Liverpool have been woeful this season, but this stat really puts that into perspective…

It’s just Liverpool’s luck that the one season they are out of the title race, Manchester City are performing below standards and may even be faced with a points deduction. But, truth be told, to narrow their season down to “out of the title race” is a compliment to them – Liverpool have been woeful.

Jurgen Klopp’s men sit 10th in the Premier League table and don’t look like climbing the table anytime soon. Their most recent result being a 3-0 loss to Wolves, their next match is against a new-look Everton side, who have just beaten the league-leaders Arsenal quite convincingly.

But, why are Liverpool doing so badly? Well, many including myself point to the unfortunate sale of one of their best players, Sadio Mane. People didn’t quite recognise just how important Mane was to their attacking play. Since he was sold to Bayern Munich, it looks like Liverpool couldn’t string a sentence together, let alone string an attack.

Other reasons may involve their poor injury luck, with several players on the sideline being treated. Key players including Luis Diaz, Virgil van Dijk and Roberto Firmino are unfortunately out of action for Klopp, making his job more difficult.

Above, Squawka posted an interesting statistic about Liverpool’s woeful first half of the season. Playing just 20 games, Jurgen Klopp has lost more Premier League games this season than 2018/19, 2019/20 and 2021/22 seasons combined. Wow.

Liverpool are certainly in a turmoil, let’s see what people are reflecting on in the replies…

They really are feeling the impact of losing Sadio Mane.

Some are even calling for Klopp to be sacked.

Others are blaming the board for not backing him enough.
