Manchester United

New manager Erik ten Hag has seen the ineptitude of Manchester United’s transfer negotiating in full effect before even setting up his tactics board at Carrington.

The Red Devils have already missed out on Darwin Nunez and appear to have hit a standstill in their talks to sign Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong all while watching their rivals build their squads for 2021/22. However, the Athletic has just released a report stating Man United have submitted a bid for Christian Eriksen.

Eriksen may provide an easier option for United thanks to him being out of contract which removes the potential of a bidding war. Despite not crossing over, he shares an Ajax link with Ten Hag having started his career there, but the lack of Champions League football may prove costly.

In respect of his profile as an attacking midfielder – although not an area of strength – it isn’t one of priority regarding recruitment for United. However, this is a no-brainer for any club and they will no doubt make enquiries if they haven’t already.
