The former Swiss international could be the best-suited Manager for Newcastle right now. Favre has an abundance of experience in turning teams into mainstay European sides, having done it with Borussia Monchengladbach and Nice.

Though Favre has been out of work since leaving Borussia Dortmund, after an indifferent spell in 2020, a project like Newcastle could be the perfect match.

Favre’s teams often favour a quick, attacking style of football, one that can switch from a more possession-based style to a tempo style, ideal when facing bigger sides who will control the ball.

His play has delivered big results wherever he has been. In his time at Monchengladbach, they had a significant winning record over perennial title winners, Bayern Munich.

Favre would be ideal for Newcastle’s current project and for when they reach the first of the goals. He appears the best fit and could start quickly and begin to bring the owners vision to life.

A few other rumoured candidates are former Chelsea captain and Manager Frank Lampard and German Ralf Rangnick, but the three listed above seem the front runners for the job.

Though the rumours of a new man at Newcastle are everywhere, it is not known whether a decision on Bruce has yet been made, but that currently seems to be just a matter of time.
