What we’ve known for a long time is that Mattéo Guendouzi doesn’t have a future at Arsenal but joining him on the transfer list is William Saliba, which comes as a bit of a surprise.

There is over enough evidence to establish that it is only a matter of time before Mattéo Guendouzi leaves Arsenal for good following a decent loan spell at Hertha Berlin. The French midfielder is supposedly set to join Ligue 1 club Marseille this summer, permanently.

Why is it almost certain? Of the traditional top-six, Arsenal have been in the rumour and transfer mill constantly. They have already been out on the hunt for midfield re-enforcements and have named midfielders Yves Bissouma, Ruben Neves and Albert Sambi Lokonga as prime targets.

More from Premier League

"The Gunners midfielder has been linked with a move to Marseille in the transfer window after falling out with boss Mikel Arteta.Guendouzi spent the season on loan at Hertha Berlin, having been frozen out by Arteta after clashing with Brighton forward Neal Maupay last summer. And the 22-year-old has been expected to leave the Emirates this summer with Arsenal chasing midfield targets such as Yves Bissouma, Ruben Neves and Albert Sambi Lokonga. The only recent activity playing against this was Guendouzi’s mysterious social media update – where he changed his profile to him in his North London colours.

The shocking news of William Saliba being transfer listed by Arsenal

It was a bit of a surprise to hear that Mikel Arteta does not see him as part of the future, near or far – and that the North London club prefers a permanent move away for Saliba.

The loan moves he enjoyed since 2019 was first thought to be the club sending out to gain the much-needed experience, however, fresh reports suggest they are already planning for their new defence.

Early on Wednesday afternoon, the Gunners had a bid of £40m rejected by Brighton for their star centre-back, Ben White.

Furthermore, William Saliba is said to be open to the idea of a move away but would prefer to land up at French club, OGC Nice, despite interest from Marseille who want a loan move rather.

"William Saliba would be keen to join OGC Nice permanently – L’ÉquipeL’Équipe have provided an update on the future of Arsenal’s French defender William Saliba. The 20-year-old has been subject of interest from Marseille President Longoria about a loan, but the outlet claims that in an identical situation to Matteo Guendouzi (OM also want to sign him), Arsenal would prefer to sell rather than loan out their assets once more. The pull in this is said to be European football. With Arsenal out of all European activity this season coming, they will struggle to convince players to join Arteta’s project and could struggle to keep their top talent.

After signing a five-year deal for £27 million with the Gunners, the defender spent most of his time away from the Emarites on loan, as well as in the under 23 side. Now it could be all over for him and Ligue 1 is calling the French youngster home.

It appears as if Arsenal are revving up for one busy summer window and could be the busiest of all Premier League sides.
