Euro 2020 Day 1: Turkey vs Italy

Pick #3: Leonardo Spinazzola

The AS Roma left-back possesses some serious attacking threat and given Italy’s solid defence he could have serious upside if he starts.

Luckily, the Italy game is the first one of the tournament so we will know whether or not he is starting before the deadline.

Pick #2: Domenico Berardi/Federico Chiesa

Two players who have had absolutely fantastic seasons at club level. Although it must be noted that Chiesa’s stats for the National team are a bit underwhelming with just 1 goal and 5 assists in 25 games.

Who starts among them could still be a bit of a toss-up but based on their recent friendlies it seems likely that Berardi will get the nod. Luckily this is something we don’t need to worry about for MD1 as we will get the Italy lineup as mentioned earlier.

Pick #1: Lorenzo Insigne

Pretty much nailed and a key part of their attack, Insigne is a solid captaincy option for the first day in my opinion.

Note that I have not mentioned Ciro Immobile because he is not a good pick for his price in general, his record for the national team is quite underwhelming.

Having said that, if I had him I would probably captain him over everyone mentioned above, but his price tag makes it a no-go for me.
