Jesse Lingard – West Ham United

When Lingard went to West Ham in January, no one expected that he would transform the club into one of the competitors for a European spot, staying above the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham.

Lingard, who was practically erased from the Red Devils, came to the Hammers in January on loan and on a quest to revive his career as a footballer.

He stunned everyone and started playing at a level that wasn’t seen since his first seasons at Old Trafford. He scored 9 goals and assisted a further 4 in the second half of the campaign.

He was one of the players with the least amount of minutes on the pitch with 1421 minutes but still managed to be the player in the squad with the second-most goals plus assists just behind Michail Antonio.

He also won the Player of the Month and Goal of the Month awards for the month of April. When Lingard came to West Ham, they were placed 10th with no hope of making any European competition.

With his inclusion to the team, the Hammers managed to get a spot in the Europa League, being the first time that the Hammers will participate in the tournament.

Honorable Mention – Tomáš Souček

Tomáš Souček was the go-to guy for West Ham all season. Even though we consider Lingard to be their best player because of his impact in such a short space of time, Souček was still amazing for the Hammers all season.

In just his second season with the club, he was the player with the most minutes with a total of 3419 minutes played. He scored 10 goals and delivered 1 assist.
