After a record-breaking season with Manchester United, the awards were waiting in the offing for Bruno Fernandes. It wasn’t a matter of if; it was more of when Bruno would lift the individual trophies offered by United.
Manchester United has presented two prestigious awards for the
for his performances this season. The best part is, Bruno Fernandes has a chance to grab a few more awards once the season concludes.
Bruno Fernandes has been Manchester United’s best player since his arrival
Manchester United received votes from 200 different countries before they announced the winner. The 27-year-old midfielder was given the “Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year” award after he received 63% of the total valid votes.
Luke Shaw received the second-highest votes. Edinson Cavani stood third.
Bruno has established himself as one of the key players in the team since he joined United in January 2020. The player has since become a fan favorite at Old Trafford, there’s just no denying that.
Bruno Fernandes – who is reportedly in contract talks with the club – won the award for the second consecutive season in Manchester. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer handed him the trophy just before the game against Fulham at Old Trafford.
With this, Bruno became the first midfielder since Roy Keane to win the consecutive Player of the Year awards
Bruno Fernandes has also won Manchester United’s “Goal of the Season” award. His Cantona-Esque strike against Everton in a 3-3 draw at Old Trafford won him the accolade.
Bruno Fernandes becomes the first player since Robin van Persie (2013) to win both the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year and the “Goal of the Season” award in the same season.

Recently, the Portuguese playmaker surpassed Chelsea legend, Frank Lampard, with 28 goals to his name in a single season for the midfielder across all competitions.
Frank Lampard held the record for most goals by a midfielder in a single season (27). However, Bruno Fernandes broke the record by scoring the penalty against Aston Villa at Villa Park.
Despite winning multiple accolades, the talisman failed to win the “Players’ Player of the Year” award as they awarded it to in-form left-back, Luke Shaw.
Luke Shaw has been a revelation under Solskjaer this season, so I don’t think it’s a bad decision at all. It’s just so good to see players getting the appreciation they deserve, and Bruno and Shaw got theirs rightfully.
