Out of four top European clubs in the semi-finals of the Champions League, the two from England were the ones who got to the final. As you all may know, Chelsea beat Real Madrid 3-1 on aggregate, and Manchester City defeated PSG 4-1 on aggregate.

All of these four teams are great, but the English clubs — at the very least in those games — were better teams from start to finish. They completely outplayed their opponents over both legs, and booked a deserving spot in the final.

But we don’t really have to wait till May 29 to see what the match-up would look like. We don’t have to wait for long to see whether Tuchel would outwit Pep Guardiola or vice versa.

They play against each other very soon. In fact, they meet this weekend, on the 8th of May. It’s going to be a very, very fun game.

What happened in the reverse fixture? How much have Chelsea changed since?

The last time Manchester City played Chelsea in the Premier League, the Cityzens absolutely demolished Chelsea. The Blues didn’t really have an answer to any question asked by City.

More from Chelsea

Frank Lampard’s almost non-existent gameplan / tactical system came to light in that game. That was when Chelsea truly started falling apart.

Exit Lampard. Enter Tuchel.

Chelsea are now fourth in the Premier League table, in the final of the Champions League, and also the FA Cup final — which they advanced to last month, after beating none other than Manchester City in the semi-finals!

It’ll be interesting to see which manager can outwit the other. We get to see something like a “Dress Rehearsal” of sorts. A dress rehearsal for the grandest stage of them all.

Manchester City have all but clinched the league title, but they would be taking this game very seriously. It serves a great purpose, and they’d be able to see how to play against the team from London in the final.

Chelsea need this win a lot more than City because they’re still in the race for the top four spots, and West Ham are still not very far away from them in the league table. So getting that win must be priority number one for Thomas Tuchel.

Doing that would make things easier for Chelsea — at least from a psychological point of view. If they win this game, They will have beaten City two times out of two since Tuchel’s takeover.

If you look at both of these teams, there’s nothing bad that sticks out. No weakness, really. They haven’t scored as many goals as they’d want, but they usually score enough, while also being solid from front to back, especially in the defense.

Next. Chelsea to extend defender’s contract for another season. dark

City on paper have a better team, but we learned this lesson not too long ago: You just can’t write Chelsea off.
