Robin Gosens is a 26-year-old German international plying his trade as a left-back with Atalanta in Serie A. Robin Gosens joined Atalanta from Heracles Almelo in 2017 for a transfer fee of €1.17 million.
Since his move to Atalanta, the fullback has featured in 110 games across all competitions. In the ongoing season, Gosens has 15 G/A to his name in 27 top-flight games. He also has a Champions League goal this season as well.
Leicester have joined Chelsea in the race to sign Robin Gosens from the Serie A outfit. However, the Foxes are one of the strong candidates to sign him from the Italian club. The player is valued at €35 million based on his recent performances in the Italian top-flight.
Brendan Rodgers has versatile fullbacks at his disposal at the King Power Stadium. The departure of Ben Chilwell has not affected Rodgers’ setup at all.
Timothy Castagne, James Justin, Ricardo Pereira, and Luke Thomas have featured on both flanks for the Midlands outfit but Castagne, Ricardo Periera and James Justin are right-footed players leaving Luke Thomas and Christian Fuchs as the only natural options.
Moreover, the Foxes are on the verge of securing Champions League football for next season. Considering all these factors, Robin Gosens can be a great addition to the Leicester line-up for the sum they are willing to spend in the transfer window.
Gosens only has one year remaining on his contract and the club will not like to let the player leave on a Bosman transfer.
In January 2020, the player was about to sign a new contract with them. However, both parties couldn’t agree on the terms regarding the new contract. With a year remaining, Leicester City would like to snap the player up for a cheaper sum.
