It’s been quite a while since we saw Virgil Van Dijk step on the pitch wearing the famous red shirt of Liverpool. While it’s still going to be a little while till we see him play again, Liverpool — well, Jurgen Klopp — has provided us with what’s going on regarding the Dutchman’s injury.

Well, it’s less of a revelation and more of being on track to recover on schedule. Klopp mentioned in the conference that Van Dijk is training alone, and is doing runs in the training complex. It seems to me that he’s on track to recover by the time the next season starts.

Van Dijk posted a video on Twitter of him doing some outdoor running

Virgil Van Dijk posted a video on Twitter that showed that he was running on the ground and the fans got really excited to know what the update is regarding him.

But while it is not the biggest update of all time, it certainly is good to see him not have any sort of relapse or setback.

Klopp mentioned that it takes a lot out of a player and it is a very long and patient recovery with injuries, and even more so with such long-term injuries like the one Van Dijk had.

Liverpool have certainly missed having Van Dijk at the back a lot. He’s one of the team’s most important players and he provided them with so much more than just his usual defensive work, you know? He provided them with leadership, aggressiveness from the back, press resistance in the defensive third and some beautiful long passes to the wide players.

He was truly a monster before his injury and every single fan hopes that he makes a strong return to form, whenever that may happen.

As much as Liverpool fans miss him, they do realize that Liverpool must take as much time with Van Dijk’s recovery as possible. You can’t really rush it. You have to be patient with it, and make sure everything goes perfectly. That’s what the Liverpool training staff are doing.
