Chelsea had signed Moroccan star Hakim Ziyech from Ajax for a fee of around 40 million euros last summer. Back then it looked like a bargain, considering how good of a player he is and the price that Chelsea bought him at wasn’t as much as we’re now used to see, either. But, now, according to reports from Italy, Ziyech could be on his way out of Chelsea, after just one season under his belt.
According to the report, it’s because of the change in coaches. Ever since Thomas Tuchel has arrived at the Stamford Bridge, Ziyech has been limited to just eight starts. He didn’t start the most recent game against Crystal Palace, either. He hasn’t proved himself to be one of the first names on the team sheet and because of that, he may look for a move elsewhere, again, according to the report.
Can Hakim Ziyech still turn things around at Chelsea?
Personally, if you ask me, I don’t think Ziyech is the kind of player to give up after just one season under his belt. He’s obviously an amazing player, and he will have a lot to give to any team that he plays for. And to be honest, that team still can be Chelsea next season.

It’s not like he hasn’t performed well in any game this season, you know? Yes, he’s had a few bad stretches of games, but he’s also had a few good ones that would give you some hope. A couple of them have been under Thomas Tuchel too.
If you’re having trouble remembering, I’m talking about the second leg of the Champions League tie against Atletico Madrid, where he was everywhere in the attacking third. He was creating chances, taking shots, getting some great passes and some great looks. He also scored the first goal of the game.
Now, I’m not saying that this makes up for every bad performance he’s had this season. But, I’m also not saying that he may leave just because of one rough season. He’s just not that type of player. I think he still has a lot to offer, and if he does what he’s supposed to do, he could prove to be a lethal weapon for Thomas Tuchel. He needs to improve, and he will. It may take some time, but I think it will happen.
Chelsea play Porto in Spain on Tuesday in hopes to secure their place in the semi-final of the Champions League. Hakim Ziyech would surely be hoping to get some minutes and hopefully change things up, especially since he only played seven minutes against Crystal Palace.
