Ever since the start of the current campaign, there were a lot of rumors surrounding David Alaba.
The Champions League winner was linked with a move to Real Madrid, Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City all season long.
Following the Bayern Munich exit talks, the transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has come up with a piece of encouraging news for Madrid fans.
According to the Italian journalist, Real Madrid has snapped up the services of the Munich player as early as January. David Alaba is all set to join Los Blancos in the summer and sign a contract lasting until 2025.
Fabrizio Romano tweeted:
"David Alaba has reached a verbal agreement with Real Madrid since the beginning of January. His pre-contract until June 2025 is ‘almost ready’ – not signed yet. Chelsea, Liverpool as other clubs are still trying to convince him… but Alaba’s priority is joining Real Madrid ."

The versatile left-footed player enjoyed great success last season with the German giants. Not only winning the Bundesliga and DFB Pokal Cup but also the Champions League, completing an iconic treble.
The player has had great success in tackles and blocks. He was able to muster 17 tackles and 40 blocks in the previous campaign.
Added to this, the ball-playing Austrian defender had a pass completion rate of 90.8% in the German top-flight.
Currently, Real Madrid have an aging and injury-prone defense barring a few. Raphael Varane is yet to pen a new contract with Sergio Ramos also not ready to sign the contract offer on the table.
Moreover, Ferland Mendy is preferred over Marcelo in the left-back position. By signing the versatile player, they can cover multiple slots with a single signing.
Alaba can play as a central defender, left-back as well as a central-defensive midfielder. Signing Alaba can help Madrid pursue next-gen players like Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe, seeing that he will come on a free transfer.
Chelsea were rumored as the frontrunners as they were searching tirelessly to start replacing aging defenders. They are preparing to enter a new and long era under Thomas Tuchel.
Unfortunately, the huge wage demand by the player scared them off and they pulled out of the Alaba race. It will be interesting to see how Los Blancos can prioritize their summer targets in the upcoming days.
