Hector Bellerin’s time in North London is ticking away with two years left on his current deal. The player is said to be considering his options with Barcelona and PSG eager to sign the fullback.

There have been multiple transfer windows where the club’s first-choice right-back has been linked with an exit from the Emirates, as well as the English Premier League.

Last summer, Bellerin was inches away from making a move to Paris Saint-Germain but any transit abroad was blocked thanks to a late intervention by the Gunners boss, Mikel Arteta.

It was first believed that Hector Bellerin was one of the players who were not in Arteta’s long-term plans and that cashing in on him was required to help balance the books or supply funds for a new squad member.

More from Arsenal

"PSG were very keen last summer and if they had made a firm bid in excess of £40m then it might have turned heads and made something happen.Instead, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta persuaded Bellerin to stay, they have a very good relationship from their playing days together and Bellerin even described his manager as a “big brother” during a documentary about his rehabilitation from injury."

This season could be Hector Bellerin’s last in Arsenal colours

If the club fails to achieve any silverware or land any one of the European spots this season, it will surely be the last we see of him in Gunners red and white.

At his age of 26 years old, if he has any Champions League ambitions or league ambitions, North London is the last place he will find success.

They are currently in a rebuilding phase and it could be a while before they are challenging Liverpool and Manchester City for top honours across all competitions/fighting on all fronts.

It will be difficult to see him stay even if they are to secure Europa League football for next season. To put their Champions League aspirations into perspective, 2016/17 was the last the Emirates enjoyed UCL football.

PSG has revived their interest in Bellerin and Barcelona hangs around in the background

Man City, Paris, and Barca have all been linked with the Spaniard in the past. Of the trio, City is the last destination he will be allowed to depart for – leaving PSG and Barcelona as possible suitors… For now.

The Ligue 1 side will revive their interest when the season ends and the situation of Arsenal’s next campaign is clearer. Barca waits for their presidential election coming March 7. If Joan Laporta wins, he wants the Spanish international.

"Previously, Barcelona and Manchester City have been very keen but Arsenal did not want to sell or entertain any business on the right back. Now Barcelona are also in the background and, in January, Mirror Football reported on the Spanish club’s presidential candidate, Joan Laporta, wanting to sign Bellerin if he won the election. The elections are now scheduled for March 7, Barcelona’s interest is still there and taking back a former trainee to the Nou Camp would be an attractive option. Adding fuel to the fire, Arsenal are already lining up replacements for him. They have a number of options with Brighton’s Tariq Lamptey is at the top of the list.

It will be sad to watch the longest-serving Gunner leave the Premier League, especially one as talented as Hector Bellerin.

But if he wants to play for bigger honours before he plays second fiddle to younger fullback, now could be his best chance to find such a challenge.

Should Arsenal cash in on the Spaniard? Or should they keep him as part of the plan, short team and long term?
