Wolves: Ranking Their January Transfer Window Out of 10
The main objective for Wolves during the January transfer window was to figure out the striker position.
They were able to make a couple of interesting moves regarding the situation. So let’s take a look at the transfers that were made and rank their transfer window.
Arrivals
The most interesting part of the transfer window for Wolves is they technically only brought in one player. That player would be Willian José, who joined on a loan from Real Sociedad.
With the serious head injury to Raúl Jiménez, it was necessary for the Wanderers to bring someone in who would walk into the first team and lead the line. Willian definitely has the ability to be a starting striker in the Premier League.
At the same time, bringing him in on a loan is a pretty safe way to get him into the team without spending a ton of money.
That will allow Wolves the opportunity to see if Willian is someone they would like to pursue on a permanent deal in the summer. This was a smart move that could pay dividends in the future for the Premier League club.

Departures
Technically speaking, Wolves didn’t actually see anybody leave on a permanent deal. The biggest move that was made in terms of departures was with Patrick Cutrone.
Cutrone is a former AC Milan player who was out on loan to Fiorentina for the beginning of the season.
Wolves recalled him from that loan move in an attempt to see if he could be their fix at the striker position. But in his limited appearances for Wolves, he seemingly didn’t impress.
This led to Cutrone being loaned out to Valencia for the remainder of the season. The only other main departure was Rúben Vinagre.
He was also recalled from a loan, only to be loaned out again to Portuguese club Famalicão.
Ranking Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Transfer Window out of 10
Overall, it was not a big transfer window for Wolves. The only moves that they ended up making were on short term loan deals.
Although in the current market and scenario for most teams regarding lack of funds, it could be considered a good thing. Wolves do not have too many holes in their team so it wasn’t necessary to spend a lot of money.
Bringing in Willian José was an important move to fill their number 9 hole. The only concerning thing is that even with the Willian José signing there is still a lack of depth in attack.
There are only 2 first team strikers at the moment with Willian and Fábio Silva. It may have made more sense to keep Cutrone for the remainder of the season until they find out just how serious Raúl Jiménez’s injury is.
Final Ranking: 8/10
