There is no room for racism but yet it still plagues the Premier League and other leagues across Europe. What will it take to clamp down on the issue?

A host of racism problems have surfaced in recent days, weeks and months. The most recent being Manchester United, Chelsea and West Brom players who have received abuse on social media – but there have been much more incidents taking place, so much that there are actually too many to name in one post.

In one week, yes one week, there have been five players who were subject to online cyber bullying.  Thos players were Manchester United trio, Axel Tuanzebe,  Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford. Then there was Chelsea defender Reece James and West Brom’s Romaine Sawyers.

Ian Write touched on the subject  of racism in the Premier League

The Arsenal legend, Ian Write, spoke about the issue that has overtaken a week and weekend of some amazing football. In fact, it has been a gloomy cloud looming over the league for decades.

Write spoke highly of the league’s decision makers and feels they are trying all the can in fighting the issue. He labelled their work as “amazing” so far.

But his biggest concern is all the social media platforms that have shown no change in how they deal with these setbacks and feel they are doing little to almost nothing to start tightening up on the problem.

So far all that has come from the indecent acts… Perpetrators’ accounts have been decommissioned, stating further action will be taken once they complete their investigations.

Beyond this, Oliver Dowden, Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport wants to have a “roundtable” discussion with footballers on how they can tackle this together moving forward.

A solution must be found and consequences must be faced! It is that simple. Read the full story on Sky Sports here and you can read The Top Flight’s take here.

What would your suggestions be in the fight against this crime called racism?
