They’ve taken advantage of a must-win situation this weekend and did it style. Their three ports collected at the London Stadium was thanks to a masterclass by the Egyptian King, Mohamed Salah.
He scored a pair of goals to help in the team’s 3-1 win. Prior to the Hammers victory, Liverpool’s improved performance against Spurs was driven by the Senegalese king again, Sadio Mane.
He scored one goal in the top-six clash but it wasn’t only his goal that was outstanding as he was everywhere on the pitch like there were 10 Sadios in one game.
The African duo on route to Premier League 100 club
The African duo who operate on either end of the flanks for the Reds are working their way to sit at the table with Chelsea legend, Didier Drogba. Both Mane and Salah have hit 90 Premier League goals with the former on 90 and the latter on 91.
They are two of five African players to reach the milestone but it is Drogba who holds the crown for the most EPL goals scored by an African player. He has 104 goals in his PL career.
It will be a huge ask to hit 100 this season but it is not impossible, especially if Liverpool have found their rhythm and stay clinical in front of goal.
This target is more than reachable and Drogba should be worried. However, if they do not make it now there is no guarantee the African duo will still be at Anfield next season to catch up then.
But if they do decide to stay in the Premier League next term, that record is going to be shared by the two world-class wingers and the legendary striker, Didier.
